Breastfeeding Can Sometimes be Difficult

Finding a solution that fits your situation may not be easy

Every suggestion out there has worked for someone.

But none of them works for everyone.

It can be overwhelming to sift through all the available advice.

Some common difficulties:

Stressful Breastfeeding

Being encouraged to hold your baby in unnatural, uncomfortable positions, and forcing your baby to the breast may lead to a stressful and painful breastfeeding experience.

Painful Nipple Trauma

Nipple position while your baby breastfeeds affects your experience of pain or comfort. Unresolved pain leads to breastfeeding complications and dissatisfaction.

Reliance on Oral Devices

Often offered to solve problems experienced in the early days of breastfeeding, oral devices can worsen the problem they are meant to correct.

Prolonged Triple Feeding

Triple feeding is often suggested to support breastfeeding in the early days of your baby's life but is commonly continued well past the point of being beneficial.

Uncertainty Around How Much Milk Your Baby is Getting

It is very common for you to feel unsure about  how much milk your baby is getting while breastfeeding and to question how much milk is enough to support your baby’s growth.

Lack of Sleep

Meeting your baby's needs around the clock can be exhausting. Adjusting to less sleep can be difficult for parents. Common breastfeedng advice often leads to less sleep.

Kim Neary RN, IBCLC, TMBP

I offer an intentional approach to lactation support.

Milk made Colorado was created out of my dream to combine what I've learned over 20 + years of hospital work as a postpartum nurse and as a lactation consultant and years of study leading to becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and a Thompson Method Breastfeeding Practitioner with offering comprehensive education and care to families at home, outside the confines of hospital and/or insurance policy, procedure and practice where your hopes and plans may not always be the driving force.

Over the years, I have helped thousands of babies learn to breastfeed while continually studying, applying, and adapting to evolving research and recommendations. The education, guidance, and support that I provide are grounded in evidence, hands-on experience, and thoughtful reasoning. I have taken what I believe is the best of all disciplines and created a support system with you and your baby at the center.

My role is to support you to breastfeed how you hope to, for as long as you choose. The tools I bring help you find your confidence and allow you to recognize that you can do this!

Me and my two breastfed babies...

"In June 2025 I had my daughter. I kept being told breastfeeding was natural, but I found it everything but that at first. Kim Neary, with breast2table, was fantastic!! She educated me on the art of breastfeeding, supported me through the hard times, and empowered me to give myself grace. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with [Kim]. I’ve now been breastfeeding for 6 months and truly believe building a strong foundation with Kim is one key factor to my success."
